Where should I elope to??? think warm, spa, quiet, cheap?
I live in Michigan, and I am planning on eloping some where between August and November of next year. My fiance and I have been researching the Florida Keys, Mexico, and Hawaii, but I really want to stay somewhere quaint, quiet, romantic, etc, and those places seem hard to come by. Did you elope?? Where to? Thank you!
Add some details of where you live, because that matters when it comes to cost of travel… But initially I would suggest Arizona, if you want to stay in the States so you don't have to deal with an international marriage license. (I am assuming you are in the USA)… AZ is going to be pretty hot until late September, so again it depends on when you need to get this thing done! Add some details to your question and I'll check back later…
*Added later: Oh no, I can't contact you privately! That's OK. Yes, my husband and I "eloped," basically. His family knew, mine didn't
(They love him now), but it was only the two of us actually at the time we got married! At the time we were living abroad, though, and we eloped to Cyprus (little island off the coast of Greece), which was really close and convenient for us. We have been married over 5 years now, proved everyone wrong basically (except his family, talk about supportive, wow..!!) and we are still so happy and even "shmoopie" at times!!
As far as your questions goes, the hard aspects are going to be "quiet" and "cheap," with the hardest being "cheap!" ("Cheap" is also relative, so I should have asked you for a price range. But I mean, this is your wedding and you won't have any guests to worry about!)
You live in Mich? Been there many times, as my family has a house up in Omena, near Traverse City. Gosh, I haven't been there in ages, though. I live in AZ now and when I get back to the Northeast I want to visit family in NY, PA, MA… Anyway..!!!
Here we go. The only place I can really recommend to you first-hand is Arizona. I would recommend the Royal Palms Resort & Spa in Scottsdale if you can get in during the off-season, which is basically through September if not October. Travelocity's "Last Minute Deals" often has deals to the Royal Palms. If you get one, and tell the Palms why you are coming (after you have your reservations), no doubt they will give you the Royal treatment, no pun intended! Also, check out this great website about eloping, and get the book ASAP so you can have something to leaf through while you're thinking of ideas! http://honeymoons.about.com/cs/toppicks/a/letselope.htm

Just click all over "about.com," it's a great site. And last of all, have you every heard of an "all-inclusive" resort? Check out this website to get an idea of what they are all about. If I was living in the USA and wanted to elope, I would seriously consider an "all-inclusive," because just about everything is paid up front, including hotel, food, drinks… even tips!

Travelocity has a section for all-inclusive as well, sometimes including airfare.
Hey girl, good luck and congrats in advance. You can contact me privately to let me know what you decide to do (if you want to). Just remember, don't take anything too seriously, even your relationship, and just keep things real between you and your honey, do what is best for you (yes, you, not you and him) first and don't forget about giving back, and compromise but don't compromise yourself. One of the many mottos of my (successful) marriage is "No one is holding you here," meaning that every day when we wake up we make a conscious choice to stay together, live together, love each other and grow together. You'll be fine
Have a great time wherever you end up eloping to!!!

Riu Merengue, Puerta Plata, Domincan Republic.
Beautiful resort. Riu also has hotels in a lot of other places. We chose this one for the price. Nicest resort I have ever been to.
